So I saw some folks are doing this???? So I decided to jOIN THE PARTY. (Also apparently I'm older than deviantArt which is weird kinda????)
Okay so I joined dA eight years ago. My username then was RabidPanda1313
, as it still is now! Yep, I haven't changed it since then. I just didn't feel any need to! I was fifteen when I joined, but I'd been eyeballing the site since 2003 or so. What really got me into posting on this site was a desire to share my artwork, crap though it was at the time. Back then I started off with pencil and paper sketches, but over the years I began to use MS Paint, and that's how I learned how to do digital art!
My first piece (that you can actually SEE now because older things are all in storage) is
God who can I mention in this journal who hasn't had a huge impact on the way I go about art? There are SO many of you out there who mean so much to me. So many of you who have influenced the way I look at my artwork, and my writing.
Probably some of the big names out there are some of my close friends whom I'll list here:
is at the top of my list because she's my BEST AND NUMBER ONE WAIFU. I've known Weird for years now (going on five+???) and we talk via the phone/Skype EVERY day. Not only is she an amazing friend to me, but she's also provided me with a VAST amount of inspiration over the years. Her stories focus on individual character development rather than linear and overused story tropes, and her style has always inspired me to do better, to be a better artist!
is next up on the list. Rinja and I have known each other for about five years now (I believe???) and WOW has she ever been such an incredible inspiration to me. Her art is phenominal, her characters well-developed and multi-layered. And WOWEE her writing! It's incredible and you should all check out her wonderful artwork, as well as her stuff on Iron-Lyons
is someone who I highly reccommend to anyone who wants to become a writer and needs someone to look up and take notes from. Ms. Spike was my first HUGE inspiration when I joined dA, not only due to her phenominal writing, but also because of her amazing skills with art! She inspired me to do better, to be better, and to never give up no matter what life throws at you.
is one of my closest and dearest friends in the entire world. I can safely say that I will spend the rest of my life being his friend, no matter what happens. He's hilarious, and incredibly talented to boot! His expressions and dynamic poses inspire me to do works that pay homage to the life he puts into every piece!!!
And finally...someone who isn't as active on dA anymore. And perhaps doesn't even realize what an impact they had on my artwork!
told me a long time ago, during a bout of 'ugh my art is shit' depression, that I should change the way I saw my own art. Shelly once told me that seeing flaws in my work wasn't a bad thing; it was a sign that I was still an artist, a good artist at that. Because I could see room for improvement in my artwork. That's something that has stuck with me through the years, and any time I find myself thinking 'ehh that looks shitty,' I remind myself to think of it instead as a sign that I'm growing as an artist.
I owe the folks above more than just the words I typed down. So thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making my journey as an artist a wonderful one! There's been rough times but you've all gotten me through it, by inspiring me to never go long without a pen or pencil in my hand.
Here are a few more works of mine I'll share because I'm proud of them:
Sharing this one because OTP.
And also because I'm still impressed by it. And the romance in it. OH GAWD.
I am SUPER proud of this one because I feel it signifies a point in my growth as an artist where I was really comfortable, and even excited to draw humans for a change!!!
This is another recent one done for WeirdHyena
that I LOVE to bits and pieces. I'm extremely proud of how it turned out and I think I deserve to be????
And then there's this guy. Logan is probably my truest artistic fictional muse. The bastard. This is one of my last good pieces from PAINT, and boy does it show. This was when I was starting to become a real wiz at it, but shortly after I got my hands on a copy of Photoshop.
So there you have it folks, my silly dA Story! >w<
