It is said that there is another race within the Realms that is unlike any other, and has existed since the Dawn of Time. Most of the records of the Realms are based upon the firsthand accounts of these very long lived dragons and dragonelles, and though scarcely a whisper of their existence has been seen or heard since Infernacus's time, all of Dragonkind can feel their very beings down to the marrow of their bones.

Such is the power of these creatures. They are unlike any dragon ever seen, though their closest and now extinct relatives in appearance were the Dragons of Air. It is yet unknown the full extent of their power, but it is whispered that they held the unique ability to breathe life into anything naturally grown, or anyone naturally born. Some were even rumored to be able to grow entire forests where there was no such hospitable place for such foliage.

It was Lai-Chen, though, whom was the most powerful. It is rumored that Lai-Chen was The First: the first born of his kind, the first dragon to approach his warring kin in hopes for peace, and the first dragon Igniculus invited into the Circle of Guardians. Since Malefor's first strike against Warfang, however, the seat once taken by the Guardian of Nature has been empty. It seemed that powers above deemed it necessary that the physical reminder be taken from the city, and The Temple, as in the wake of Malefor's onslaught both were destroyed.

History says Lai-Chen blessed his Ward, who disappeared after the war led by The Black Terror. It's rumored that his blessing, that the powers he gave up to her, will be passed on to her offspring, and will awaken only when it is needed most...

DRAGONS.

So meet Lai-Chen. Lai-Chen is a favorite character of mine that I don't draw nearly enough. His design kind of changes every time I draw him, but today I tried to go with a much more 'plant' look. His mane, mustache and beard are actually all a mix of hair and weeping willow leaves.

Lai's markings are based off of an Eyelash Crested Gecko's, as I like the pinstripe colors some can get, and it seems to be a sort of dark-natural camouflage.

BONUS: Lai-Chen isn't the only one of 'his kind.' ;) We'll get to that later. But I'll give you a hint! Lai-Chen is actually part of the Elements, but not the conventional kind. Find out which kind, and you might be able to discover what might come after him!

I'm a gonna guess the element of nature/life or an offshot of both earth and/or air? I'm guessing that this blessing will go down to a certain "Brook"? ;)
